Autumnal Equinox

Posted on September 24, 2012 by LISA KUNIZAKI | 0 Comments

Spent the first morning of autumn with <3 getting coffee, strolling through the Union Square Farmer's Market and then a nice late seafood brunch in Brooklyn near our home.

I'm such a sucker for tomatoes and bright colors.

Love heirloom tomatoes! My mom grew her own this summer.

Rainbow carrots are so pretty.

This corn is so beautiful for decorating the home.

Variety of hot peppers...<3 is thinking of using some for his homemade beef jerky.

Nothing says Fall like apples.

So sad to see the last of the sweet corn. Makes me think of corn field mazes, hay rides and apple cider.

This Fire Cider is made from apple cider vinegar by Tweefontein Herb Farm in New Paltz, New York. Absolutely delicious for salads, but can also be used as a tonic for your immune system!

The herbal teas caught my eye!

And then I noticed there were four in total!

Across the way was another tent that caught my eye. I must have been pretty thirsty. Iced mint tea sweetened with maple syrup.

And Maple Cotton Candy!

One vendor had these which reminded me of okra. My mom makes awesome okra.

And everywhere I looked, people were carrying bunches of these.

After the market we head out for Brooklyn's Lobster Joint in Greenpoint. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. It was a beautiful day so we decided to sit outside.

Best Lobster Claw Bloody Mary ever!

A dozen oysters, 3 varieties.

Crispy Oyster Roll & Clam Roll both with french fries, cole slaw and a pickle...

We caught a glimpse of the Lobster Rancheros on the way out. <3 was so bummed he didn't order it! I reassured him that we'd be going back again soon anyway.

The Lobster Joint has an amazing Happy Hour during the week from 4PM-7PM and their Pre-Fix Brunch on Sat & Sun is also a complete bargain.

Well, hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of the fall season!

XO,

CdS
