I took a trip to the Big Island two weeks ago to visit Sherri from Moonrise Tea. I took the first flight out of Honolulu which turned out to be at the crack of dawn. The sun was barely rising when I arrived and the rental car place wasn't even open yet. Lucky for me, once they did open Ken's was open.
Lucky for me this place is open 24 hours a day. I took the first flight out of Honolulu and arrived just a little after 6 AM. It's about a five minute drive from the airport. Super close and super convenient. The place reminds me a little of Mel's Diner ('80's reference); the waitresses were really friendly and the diner was pretty old school.
I was just going to get a cup of coffee, but realized I had been up since 3:30 in the morning and probably wouldn't have another meal till around 2 PM. #34 please! The Lup Cheong Omelette!
Vietnamese iced coffee (with a pool of condensed milk on the bottom).
They also had an amazing selection of cream pies. The special of the day was Avocoda Cream Pie and Chocolate Avocado Cream Pie.
Next time I'm on the Big Island, I will definitely be stopping by Ken's again!
