What I love most about NYC during this time of year is the holiday cheer in the air. I can't say I love the crowds surrounding Central Park, The Plaza or 5th Avenue, but it just can't be avoided. Everyone wants in on the action.
As soon as you enter the Mandarin Oriental, you immediately want to check into the hotel and their world-renowned spa. Their spa really is top notch! You'll definitely feel like a new person. I like to check into hotels a few times a year for short mini-breaks. I highly recommend it.
You take the elevator up to the Lobby Lounge which thankfully is not located in the lobby, but on the 35th floor. There is a stunning panoramic view of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline. The ambience is luxurious and cozy, making it the ideal place for something as special as afternoon tea.

The tea is from a Vancouver, B.C.-based company called Tealeaves. The company is known for creating blends and selecting products specifically for the luxury hotel and restaurant market.
Tea sandwiches: Curry Chicken Canape Honey Crisp Apple on Brioche, Smoked Salmon Roulade Caper Mousse on Pumpernickel Bread, and Market Watercress Sandwich Mustard Mousse on Brioche.
For the holidays, Nutcracker inspired sweets! How fun! Linzer Star Cookie, Miniature Fruit Cake, Coconut-Spiced Chocolate Snowball, Caramel Toasted Pecan Pie and Eggnog Panna Cotta.
Love having champagne with my tea. Adds that extra bit of luxury.
