James Freeman is the founder and owner of Blue Bottle Coffee Company. I actually own this book and find it extremely interesting and useful. If you love coffee as much as much as anyone in Portland or Seattle does (or Japan for that matter), it would be a fun book to purchase. If you are a novice to the whole coffee world or a coffee lover who wants to delve deeper into the art of coffee, you'll find the book very instructional and easy to follow. There is a chapter that explains step by step how to roast beans at home using standard kitchen tools. There is another section that introduces a home technique for cupping, the industry method of tasting coffees for quality control, so you can hone your taste and share your roasting experiences with friends.
