Abundance of Tea

There is an abundance of free places to do tea tastings in San Francisco's Chinatown...

Red Blossom Tea Company...has an amazing selection of teas and you won't know which ones to buy after you're through with the tastings! I fell in love with a few oolongs and a pu'erh, but I also discovered a new tea, their Organic Formosa Red #18. It's an interesting hybrid cultivar and you can read about it on their web site. It's also one of those great teas you can add just a little cream and sugar to enhance the flavor.

Vital Tea-Leaf is just a few doors down...

And they are very generous when it comes to free samples...

They also have excellent inexpensive tea accessories if you're looking for something unique. Super friendly and very attentive. No pressure to purchase anything if you're only in to try teas.

I also found mandarin pu'erh which was a real treat; pu'erh tea wrapped in a dried mandarin orange peel and then buried underground for six years. The strong orange flavor gets infused into the aged black tea...

so I picked up a few of those.

And my friend picked up the last of the bamboo pu'erh.

The Ten Ren Tea at this location was selling the Ten Ren tea and accessories, but also had a Bubble Tea Counter. Holy yum!

I love that we have more places like these in NYC now. You can always stop in these places and sample some of their teas. They are super friendly and offer excellent customer service: David's Tea, Palais de Thes, Harney & Sons, In Pursuit of Tea (check their web site for special tea tastings), Kusmi Tea, and Argo Tea just to name a few.
