South City Kitchen | Contemporary Southern Cuisine in Atlanta

It's my first time in Atlanta and before I even got on the plane I knew I wanted to eat some good Southern food once the plane touched down. So after I settled into my hotel room and unpacked I went down to the concierge desk for some assistance. I asked the guy at the desk where I could find some great Southern food. I had a pretty big list and the front desk staff were able to help me eliminate the ones that may not have been a good match.    

I decided that I wanted fried chicken! They were quick to pick two places, but he definitely preferred one place over another on my list. So, I was off to South City Kitchen. 

They brought us a basket full of warm corn bread, butter and apple butter made in house. This must be what Southern hospitality is all about I thought to myself...

Marzi and I both ordered the STRAWBERRY BOURBON SMASH Breckinridge Bourbon, Old Overholt Rye Whiskey, smashed strawberries, orange bitters, splash of soda.

To start, we ordered CHICKEN LIVERS with country ham, caramelized onions, brioche, creamed corn, garlic jus and 

the FRIED GREEN TOMATOES goat cheese, red pepper coulis, basil.

Marzi ordered the JUMBO LUMP CRAB CAKE HASHover-easy egg, fingerling potatoes, tomato relish, chive hollandaise and I ordered the <drumroll please>

Buttermilk Fried Springer Mountain Chicken & Waffles. Mmmm...with Vermont maple syrup, it was so good. 

I wished I had left space for dessert, but I was absolutely stuffed.
